Dr. Holger Hintelmann, Interim Vice-President of Research and Innovation
Dr. Hintelmann is an internationally recognized researcher in the areas of analytical chemistry and environmental science. He pioneered the use of stable isotopes in environmental research, has published more than 150 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and has served on several Scientific Committees and Advisory Boards. He is the recipient of many prestigious research awards, including President's International Fellowship of the Chinese Academy of Sciences for Distinguished Scientists.
His career at Trent dates back to 1993, when he joined the University as a post-doctoral fellow. He has been a professor of Chemistry and Environmental & Resource Studies (now the Trent School of the Environment) since 1997. Dr. Hintelmann served as chair of Trent’s Department of Chemistry from 2004 to 2009 and was also director of the Environmental and Life Sciences Graduate Program.
Since taking on the role of dean of Science in 2010, Dr. Hintelmann has overseen the formation of new academic units, including the School of the Environment and Department of Kinesiology; and implemented many new programs, such as the chemical engineering dual degree with Swansea University, the medical professional stream, and paid co-ops for science students.
